European Women for HPV Testing

On January 28 the HPV day took place in the European Parliament. This event was organised by European Women for HPV Testing, which Elly Plooij actively supports. Human Papillomavirus (HPV) is the cause of cervical cancer, yet testing for this virus is currently not available to all women. European Women for HPV Testing is a group of high profile women who are campaigning to increase awareness of HPV and cervical cancer. The campaign aims to have HPV testing introduced into national cervical screening programmes alongside the current Pap smear.

During the Interparliamentary meeting with the delegation of the Chinese People's Congress in November, Elly Plooij (Chair of the EP's China delegation) visited Rotterdam and Amsterdam at November 5.
